Esme Berner is the DA’s Community Engagement Associate. She has experience in communication strategy, membership outreach, and event execution through a variety of work experiences at mission-driven organizations. Esme holds a B.A. in Comparative Cultures and Politics from Michigan State University, where she studied the relationship between international affairs and cultures in order to develop practical responses to social injustice, inequity and conflict. She spent summer 2024 as a Fundraising Fellow with Abundance Strategies. As a fellow, she generated prospective individual and institutional donor profiles and connected a portfolio of progressive clients with funding to sustain and enhance their strategic goals and mission. She supported and tracked fundraising goals and developed client-facing memos, briefings, and drafted outreach. This extraordinary opportunity to work with some of the nation’s premier progressive organizations solidified her interest in a career with the DA. In her free time, Esme enjoys antiquing, spending time with her menagerie of animals, and exploring the many cultural institutions around her hometown, Detroit.
