People Power: ACLU

Launched in early 2017, People Power is a project the ACLU created to add grassroots organizing to the ACLU’s legacy work of litigation and advocacy and to absorb and mobilize the bench of volunteers that quadrupled since the 2016 Election. The approach embodies the strategic intersection of advocacy, electoral, litigation, and organizing work in defense of democratic norms and rights. Early impact includes the Freedom Cities Project, where ACLU volunteers met with nearly 1,000 law enforcement officials and won commitments to immigrant rights in local communities, and the Let People Vote Campaign that helps progressives go on the offense on ballot access and voting rights.
